Given below are things we recommend, that may or may not be part of the tourist trail, but are things that over the years our friends, family, and guests have enjoyed enough to do repeatedly.
Camels Back Road
Named after the presence of rocks that have adopted the shape of a camel’s hump, Camels Back Road is a pleasant level walk that starts a Kulri and ends just short of Library. On clear days, it has fabulous snow views.
Mussoorie Lake
A man-made tourist attraction, go only if you must. Can be crowded and and not very pleasant. The drive down and up can take the better part of the day so feel free to skip it.
Hathi Pao
Set across a ridge and surrounded by the forest, Hathi Pao is a delightful part of Mussoorie. The road here leads to Clouds End, where you’ll find vintage photographs and a variety of snacks to enjoy!
Kempty Falls
A scenic drive from the hotel to King's Craig, past the library, eventually leads to the majestic Kempty Falls. Check whether there is water there before you set off and be prepared for the crowds.
Library
Situated alongside roads leading to Company Gardens, Kempty Falls, Happy Valley, and Clouds End, The Library was established 172 years ago. The Library itself is an important literary landmark in Mussoorie.
Char Dukan
Whether it’s the serene trails, the beautiful weather, or just the hospitable nature of Dhaba owners that draws you here, Char Dukan, a quaint marketplace is definitely worth the visit! Check out the very typical pancakes they have to offer. And now the dhaba’s have taken to offering waffles too.
Lal Tibba Walk
Skip the crowds at Lal Tibba and just take a walk through the ancient Deodar forest 1000 meters above Mussoorie. Peek into the old British cemetary when Mussoorie was a sanatorium during colonial times.
Ellora’s of Dehradun
Fast replacing the Mussoorie legend, Chick Chocolate, Ellora’s has transformed into a shop full of goodies as well as a cafe. Get the thin almond biscuits, the famous stick jaw toffee and rusks that continue to be as good as many past generations rememember.
Company Gardens
Company Gardens cultivates an array of exotic flowers and serves as the perfect place for a nature stroll. Admire the flowers and take a walk around. Neighboring the Company Gardens are the Kempty Falls.
Landour
Instagram make Landour known as the place above Mussoorie with ancient deodar trees and British era homes. But actually Landour is the local’s Mussoorie. A bustling market street that winds its way to Lal Tibba, starting from Ghantaghar. Walk through the market, all the way early in the morning - at any other time, the traffic will drive you crazy!
Jabar Khet
A privately owned nature reserve, there is an entry fee to go here. But once it, you are amidst the serenity of a forest with no traffic or human beings to disturb you. Carry a simple picnic and enjoy a day out. No loud music or games - this is a place to commune with nature.
